英國中學簡介

英國中學制度
英國中學 (Secondary Education / Sixth Form) 為學生完成小學教育後的重要升學階段。
• 英國籍學生可選擇就讀公立或私立中學 (大約4,100間學校選擇)
• 國際學生可選擇就讀私立中學或私立寄宿中學 (大約2,500間學校選擇)
• 多所國際教育集團亦開設中學課程，提供國際學生多元且彈性的學習選擇
英國中學教育可分三階段。由於台灣與英國教育制度不同，選擇合適的入學年級十分重要。
• 第一階段: 中學一至三年級 (Year 7-9): 著重學術基礎建立與語言能力培養
• 第二階段: 中學四至五年級 (Year 10-11): 進階學術指導與專業學科學習
• 第三階段: 中學六年級上下 (Year 12-13): 考試導向課程進修，為大學升學做準備

英國中學採申請制入學，學校將依以下條件進行審核:
• 學術成績
• 入學考試與英語能力評估
• 面試表現

中學四年級與五年級課程 Year 10-11 GCSE
GCSE 為英國中學的重要階段，適合完成台灣九年級學業的學生，作為銜接英國教育的起點。
• 課程類型: 兩年制標準課程‧一年制密集課程
• 入學年齡: 14-15 歲
• 開課時間: 每年9月、1月
• 必修學科: 英語、數學
• 選修學科: 可依興趣與升學方向選擇4-10門學科
• 選修學科範例: 藝術‧生物‧商學‧化學‧電腦‧經濟‧歷史‧傳媒‧語言‧物理‧心理學‧文學‧地理‧攝影‧體育‧社會學等。
中學六年級課程 Year 12-13 A-Level
A-Level 為英國最具代表性的大學升學課程，適合完成台灣高中二年級的學生，為大學升學做完善的準備。
• 課程類型: 兩年制標準課程‧一年半制密集課程
• 入學年齡: 15.5-16 歲
• 開課時間: 每年9月、1月
• 選修學科: 可依興趣與升學方向選擇3-4門學科
• 選修學科範例: 會計‧經濟學‧商學‧社會學‧法律‧政治學‧地理‧歷史‧古代史‧古典文明‧哲學‧宗教學‧考古學‧文學‧現代語言‧

國際文憑課程 International Baccalaureate (IB)
IB 為全球最具國際認可度的文憑課程之一，強調跨學科學習、批判性思維與全方位的技能培養。
• 課程類型:
1) 基礎階段 (Primary Years Programme, PYP): 3-12 歲
2) 中級階段 (Middle Years Programme, MYP): 11-16 歲
3) 文憑階段 (Diploma Programme, DP): 16-19 歲
• 文憑階段的核心課程: 理論知識 (TOK)‧創意行動服務 (CAS)‧專題論文 (EE)

• 課程選擇包含: 大學先修課程 (Foundation)、各類專業證書課程。
語言準備課程 English Preparation Programme
英語能力是進入英國教育的關鍵技能。若未能於開課前取得規定的語言成績，可先修語言準備課程。
