學校簡介
曼徹斯特大學 (University of Manchester) 為英國最具規模的大學之一，以豐富的學術資源與創新的教學品質而聞名國際，其中商學、科學、製造技術、醫學等專業領域更是享有極高的學術聲譽。大學為羅素大學集團 (The Russell Group) 的成員之一，同時位列英國紅磚大學之一，此類型大學為工業革命時期於英國重要的工業城市所成立的研究型大學，目前僅有六所大學擁有此稱號，皆為英國頂尖的名門學府。
曼徹斯特大學創始於當地兩所知名學府: 曼徹斯特維多利亞大學 (Victoria University of Manchester) 與曼徹斯特理工大學 (University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology)。於1905年起，兩所學校開始長期的合作關係，曼徹斯特維多利亞大學的技術學院開始設立由理工大學的教師所教授的技術課程，而理工大學的學生亦可主修此學院的課程、並獲得大學學位。理工大學於1994年正式獲得皇家授予大學資格，於2004年正式合併曼徹斯特維多利亞大學，而成立現今的曼徹斯特大學。
曼徹斯特維多利亞大學的前身為歐文學院 (Owens College)，由當地實業家約翰‧歐文於1851年以創立無派別的教育機構為由而成立的學校，其後合併當地皇家醫藥外科學校而成立醫學部門；主要教學區名為 Old Quadrangle，為一座由著名的建築師阿弗雷德‧瓦特豪斯所設計的典雅哥德式建築 (該位建築師同時設計曼徹斯特城鎮大廳、曼徹斯特博物館)。歐文學院於1903年併入英國第一所市立大學-維多利亞大學，學校正名為曼徹斯特維多利亞大學，並於十九世紀初期開始規劃許多新式建築，包含: 新穎的化學實驗室、典雅的藝術大樓、科學與工程部門、新醫學大樓，同時於曼徹斯特皇家醫院開設臨床實驗教學。
曼徹斯特理工大學 (University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology) 的前身為曼徹斯特機械學院，由化學家約翰‧道爾頓於1824年聯合當地商人、實業家一起創辦的技術學校，為工人階級發起國家教育運動時所成立的學校之一，創校宗旨為提供技師/工人擁有進修學術與科學的機會。
曼徹斯特大學每年招收約四萬名學生，接受約六萬名學生提出申請，具備極高的申請率，且為全球企業關注的前百所大學之一，擁有極高的就業率。大學的學術研究資源位居全國第三位、各學院品質位居第六位，其中研究資金收入為英國學校前五名；並為英國境內提供最多種類學術科系的學府。大學擁有輝煌的學術成就，多位教師與學生榮獲諾貝爾獎，包含: 十座物理學獎、九座化學獎、兩座生理學與醫學獎、三座經濟學獎，為國內持有諾貝爾獎項第三多的教育機構；校內的工程與物理科學學系亦獲選為先進材料的研究區- BP 國際中心 (BP International Centre)。學校歷史最悠久的學系為生命科學學系，學系中的細胞、疾病研究、分子系統、神經系統、人體組織等研究皆十分知名，其中臨床人類生物科學位居專業排名第二位、生物科學則位列第三位。醫學與保健學院為英國最具規模的學院之一，每年培育出逾七百位醫學生、以及逾百位實習院生，並與曼徹斯特學術保健科學中心 (Manchester Academic Health Science Centre) 合作，致力於高階的保健研究；其中更以牙醫學系最為出名，設有全國最優質的牙醫學系課程，每年榮獲高額的研究資金，並長年具備牙醫教育界的領導地位。此外，商學院則為歐洲區最具規模的學院之一，其中國際商務、MBA、金融會計等學系相當知名。

曼徹斯特市 (Manchester) 位於英格蘭西北區，隸屬於大曼徹斯特郡 (Greater Manchester)，為該郡縣最具規模的城市，城市中心座落於艾威爾河東岸 (River Irwell)，以歷史建築、音樂文化、影視傳媒、工程科學、運動發展而聞名。於工業革命時期，曼徹斯特市發展出許多卓越的工業技術，促使城市躍升為全球知名的工業城；伴隨新工業發迅速展、新思想興起、勞工協會組織發展，進而吸引眾多英國與歐洲區的高知識份子遷移至此，並於塔拉福特公園建造世界首座工業園區；同時帶動城市的交通建設發展，設立全球首座城際列車鐵路系統-利物浦曼徹斯特鐵路、建立英國首座輕軌運輸交通系統、以及於曼徹斯特運河中規劃水上計程車，主要往來於市中心與位於索爾福德市 (Salford) 的英國媒體城區 (MediaCityUK)。城市主要機場為曼徹斯特國際機場 (Manchester Airport)，是倫敦區外最具規模的機場之一，亦為英國第三座繁忙的機場。

住宿相關
曼徹斯特大學提供多元的住宿選擇，為英國大學中最具規模的住宿規劃政策。每棟住宿區都有其獨特之處，房間均為單人房，可選擇自炊式 (共用廚房)、包餐式、雅房 (共用衛浴)、套房 (含個人衛浴)、家庭式公寓套房、以及要求居住單一性別樓層。多數住宿區為學士/碩士生合宿、少數區域僅提供碩士生居住；其中有一棟僅提供給男性、一棟僅供女性居住。選擇包餐式的學生，學校負責提供每日早晚餐，同時提供素食餐點選擇；選擇自炊式的學生，可於各宿舍區的共用廚房自行烹煮喜愛的家鄉美食；若希望偶爾請學校準備餐點，可接洽 Food on Campus Outlets。
• 市區住宿 (City Campus): 位於城市中心，步行約10分鐘可至各校區，同時設有免費接駁公車往來各校區/宿舍區。鄰近學生會、圖書館、餐廳、電影院。僅提供自炊式住宿、共用廚房；住宿區同時設置遊戲室、電腦中心、健身房。
