學校簡介
萊斯特大學 (University of Leicester) 成立於1921年，前身為萊斯特大學學院 (University College Leicester)，創校初期因不具備大學資格而由倫敦大學授予學位證書，爾後大學於1957年獲得皇家許可授予大學資格，正式成為萊斯特大學。大學致力於提供優質的教學與卓越的研究，同時斥資重金引進新穎的研究設備、擴建校區、增設宿舍與教學設備，伴隨多年發展至今，萊斯特大學已成為一所具備優質學術聲譽的高等教育機構，於英國乃至國際皆享有極高的知名度。
萊斯特大學著重於專業領域的研究發展，根據不同領域開設多元的研究課程與新穎的教學方法，尤以透過遺傳指紋分析的技術而成功辨認英王理查三世的遺體而享有極高的研究榮譽，並因優越的研究成果而三度榮獲女王週年獎的肯定，同時位列英國年度大學之一，進而成為一所以研究聞名的學府。大學的各研究中心皆具備卓越的研究成果並建立獨特的研究方法，協助學校的發展與考核，大學近八成的研究成果位列國際卓越等級，對於社會、環境、保健等領域皆擁有傑出的貢獻。此外，萊斯特大學和英國與歐洲的業界維持緊密的合作，提供學生國際實習的機會。
萊斯特大學位於英國中部的萊斯特市 (Leicester)，校區座落於市中心以西約一英里處，鄰近維多利亞公園 (Victoria Park)。校區為當地商人-湯瑪士．菲爾德．強森 (Thomas Fielding Johnson) 因紀念第一次世界大戰所犧牲的當地居民而贊助所興建，此善舉同時反映於大學的座右銘 - 他/她們因而獲得永生 (So That They May Have Life)。校區結合十九世紀的傳統古蹟建築與二十世紀知名的設計建築，為一座擁有獨特風格的優美校區，其中具備特色的建築物包含:
• 菲爾德．強森大樓 (Fielding Johnson Building): 位於校區中央，為大學行政中心與法學系的所在地。
• 工程大樓 (Engineering Building): 為一座多功能教學區，位列二級古蹟建築，為英國知名建築師-詹姆斯．斯特林爵士 (Sir James Stirling) 所設計建造，為大學首批落成的建築物之一。
• 阿汀堡大樓 (Attenborough Tower): 為一座十八樓層高的教學區，為社會科學/藝術與人文學院的所在地。

環境介紹
萊斯特市 (Leicester) 位於中英格蘭的東米德蘭茲區 (East Midlands)，隸屬於萊斯特郡 (Leicestershire)，城市座落於索爾河 (River Soar)，鄰近優美的國家森林公園。萊斯特市擁有逾兩千年以上的歷史，為英國最古老的城市之一；城市擁有十座建築位列國家重點文物遺址，包含: 猶太之牆 (Jewry Wall)、羅馬城溝 (Raw Dykes)、萊斯特古堡 (Leicester Castle)；同時擁有十三座二級古蹟建築，包含: 安葬英王理查三世的萊斯特座堂 (Leicester Cathedral)、以及聖瑪格莉特教堂 (St Margaret's Church)。
萊斯特市早期為羅馬帝國的軍事領地；於十八世紀，當地修建運河與鐵路連結鄰近的伯明罕市，同時伴隨工業革命的到來，造就城市演變為一座工業城，以製造業和機械工程聞名；後期由於製造業逐漸沒落而促使貿易業崛起；現今，萊斯特市擁有蓬勃的商業與經貿發展，而成為一座國際化的現代貿易城市。此外，萊斯特市擁有完善的交通樞紐，搭乘火車約一小時即可抵達鄰近的伯明罕市，城市的主火車站連結南北重要的鐵路-米德蘭主線道，可前往城市以北的雪菲爾市與首都倫敦的聖潘克拉斯火車站 (St Pancras Station)，於該火車站可搭乘歐洲之星前往法國與比利時，為一座交通十分便利的城市。

學校設施

住宿相關
萊斯特大學擁有多元的學校宿舍區，提供寧靜且安全的住宿環境。國際學生僅需於截止日期前提出學校宿舍申請，大學便保障第一年的入住資格。學校的宿舍單位提供全面性的服務，包含: 辦理入住事宜、認識同學、處理住宿糾紛、提供校外租屋資訊，協助學生入住合適的住宿環境。學校宿舍提供多元房型選擇: 雅房 (共用衛浴與廚房)、套房 (個人衛浴、共用廚房)、獨立套房 (個人衛浴與廚房)、公寓式房型 (個人衛浴與廚房)。學校宿舍房間提供基本生活設備，包含: 床、書桌椅、衣櫥、書櫃、收納空間。
大學生宿舍區稱為學生村宿舍 (The Village)，提供包餐式或自炊式住宿，宿舍區距離學校與市中心約20分鐘公車程，總共擁有八棟宿舍區，各區皆具備獨特的居住環境與多元房型選擇。
• 大學生宿舍區: Ashcroft House、Glebe Court、John Foster Houses、Knighton Court、Meadow Court、Shirley House、Southmeade Court、The Pavilions: 搭乘公車約20分鐘可抵達校區與市中心，鄰近運動中心、健身中心、植物園區、超市。宿舍提供雅房、套房、獨立套房、共用衛浴、共用廚房、交誼中心、自助洗衣設備、自行車停放處、閱覽區、音樂練習室、舞蹈練習室、影音室、服務中心。
研究生宿舍區稱為城市宿舍 (The City)，為自炊式住宿，宿舍區位於步行約10分鐘即可抵達校區的距離，鄰近市中心、火車站、圖書館、運動中心。
• 研究生宿舍區: Brookland Road、Nixon Court、Opal Court: 步行約5分鐘可抵達校區、30分鐘可抵市中心，鄰近優美的公園區、電影院、餐廳、超市、生活商店。宿舍提供雅房、套房、獨立套房、共用衛浴、共用廚房、交誼中心、自助洗衣設備、自行車停放處、服務中心。
