學校簡介
卡地夫大學 (Cardiff University) 成立於1883年，為威爾斯第三古老的大學，大學前身為南威爾斯與蒙茅斯郡大學學院 (University College of South Wales and Monmouthshire)，為威爾斯大學體系 (University of Wales) 的創辦成員之一，並於1997年開始授予學位課程；學院於後期合併當地的科技學院並擴大規模，進而成為現今的卡地夫大學。大學每年招收逾三萬名學生，包含逾七千名國際學生，具備逾八成的學生滿意度、以及高達九成的就業率，為一所國際知名的研究型大學。
卡地夫大學為英國研究型大學的先驅，位列英國大學知名的羅素集團 (Russell Group) 的成員之一，以優質的教學與創新的研究成果而聞名，曾高達四次獲頒女王週年獎，為該領域中獨特的殊榮，進而享有極高的學術聲譽。大學開設三大學院: 藝術/人文與社會科學學院、物理科學與工程學院、生物醫學與生命科學學院；各學院皆有所長，其中社會科學、新聞記者、建築學、藥學、醫學為大學強項，於專業排名中名列前茅。此外，醫學系所擁有的醫學教學中心為英國女王揭幕的優質機構，並與威爾斯大學醫院合作提供實習課程。醫學系於2009年因協助研究阿茲海默症而發掘兩大新的遺傳因子而位列十大醫學重大突破之一；該系的馬丁‧伊凡斯教授因胚胎幹細胞與DNA重組研究而榮獲諾貝爾醫學獎。
卡地夫大學位於威爾斯首府卡地夫市，距離市中心約一英里，劃分兩座校區:
• 凱西公園校區 (Cathays Park): 大學主校區，擁有廣大的綠地以及典雅的設計建築，為一處具啟發性的學習環境。該校區鄰近市中心，為眾多學院、圖書館、學生宿舍、學生會、餐廳、商店、書店的所在地。

卡地夫市 (Cardiff) 座落於英國西部，為威爾斯 (Wales) 的首府以及威爾斯國民議會處的所在地，同時為威爾斯最具規模的城市。城市早期因地理優勢而成為軍事要地，於中世紀時期躍升為重要的港口城市，並因約翰‧克里斯頓-史都華侯爵竭盡畢生光陰興建卡地夫碼頭 (Cardiff Docks) 並致力於港區的發展，而為後世譽為-現代卡地夫之創立者，城市更於十九世紀因出口煤礦而造就經濟攀升。伴隨悠久的發展至今，卡地夫市已成為文化與傳媒的匯集處，更為威爾斯的財務商業的重鎮，位列歐洲城市組織的成員之一，其中觀光業、教育業、醫療業為城市三大主要產業。
