學校簡介
雪菲爾大學 (University of Sheffield) 為英國著名的紅磚大學，創校歷史源自於當地三間學校的合併: 雪菲爾醫學院校 (Sheffield School of Medicine)、佛斯學院 (Firth College)、雪菲爾技術學校 (Sheffield Technical School)，其中歷史最悠久的機構為建於1828年的雪菲爾醫學院校、而最為知名的則是建於十九世紀的佛斯學院。大學於1905年獲得皇家授予大學資格，正名為雪菲爾大學，創校宗旨在於藉由研究與教學來創造高等教育的優質學習文化，並透過師生彼此相互的學習來改善世界；學校發展至今，已培育出五位醫學與化學的諾貝爾獎得主，以卓越的教學評價與研究成果聞名國際，其中逾三成的研究成果獲評為全球先驅、逾五成的研究成果獲得全球卓越評鑑；綜合各項優勢，大學位列英國十大最佳研究型大學之一、最受國際學生歡迎的五大學府之一，同時建立優質的學術聲譽，為國際間具有極高聲望的知名學府。

環境介紹
雪菲爾市 (Sheffield) 位於英國中部，隸屬南約克郡 (South Yorkshire)，為英國八大核心城市之一，城市名稱來自於當地著名的河流 - 雪菲河 (River Sheaf)。雪菲爾早期為一座小型的市集城鎮，以知名的古堡廣場 (Castle Square) 為中心逐漸發展，並以優越的鋼鐵技術而發明當代知名的鍍銀餐具 (Sheffield Plate)。城市於十九世紀伴隨工業革命的崛起，進而躍升成為國際知名的鋼鐵產業城市之一。雪菲爾發展至今已成為一座多元的現代城市，以商業、觀光、文化產業而聞名，位居英國第四大規模城市。雪菲爾擁有便捷的交通樞紐，搭乘火車前往首都-倫敦約兩小時車程、至鄰近城市 - 曼徹斯特約四十分鐘車程。
雪菲爾市建有歐洲區最具規模的購物中心 - 草牧購物中心 (Meadowhall Centre)，以及許多知名觀光景點，包含逾千座列入保護的歷史建築物，每年吸引百萬遊客到此遊歷。城市規劃眾多綠地園區，包含數百座公園與花園，城市約三分之一的區域劃入峰區國家公園 (Peak District National Park)，譽為歐洲綠化城市之最。雪菲爾市為英國所推崇的音樂之城，以電音與流行音樂較為知名；同時為世界著名的創意之都，擁有國際知名的文化產業區 (Culture Industries Quarter)，結合逾三百項文化創意企業與組織，包含: 博物館、畫廊、藝術工作室，並同時推廣音樂、戲劇、影視、媒體、攝影、表演藝術、傳統工藝等相關創作活動。
雪菲爾擁有兩所大學，分別為雪菲爾大學 (University of Sheffield) 與雪菲爾哈倫大學 (Sheffield Hallam University)，兩所學府引領城市的學術與文藝氛圍；結合良好的治安與親切友善的居民，雪菲爾獲評為英國最安全的城市之一，並因理想的學習環境而獲選為最受學生歡迎的大學城市。
雪菲爾市曾獲選為世界大學運動會的場地，並於當時期推動城市的運動風氣與復興規劃，興建多座運動中心與體育場地，包含: 建有奧林匹克等級游泳池的龐德體育中心 (Ponds Forge)、英國最具規模的體育中心-唐山谷體育中心 (Don Valley Stadium)、歐洲最具規模的滑雪場-雪菲爾滑雪村 (Sheffield Ski Village)、奧林匹克級別的運動員培訓中心-英國運動機構 (English Institute of Sport)，提供專業運動員多座完善訓練場地的同時，亦為當地居民提供優質的休閒遊憩場所，整座城市儼然成為一座新興體育之都。此外，雪菲爾為英國運動發展的先驅，為歷史最悠久的足球俱樂部發源地，知名的雪菲爾足球俱樂部 (Sheffield F.C.) 成立於十九世紀初期，為全球首批成立的足球俱樂部之一。
學校設施
雪菲爾大學擁有一座於1966年啟用的二級古蹟建築 - 藝術塔(Arts Tower)，此塔於1965至2010年間為城市最高聳的建築物，亦為數所部門的所在地；現今已改建為行政大樓，僅保留歐洲僅存的帕特諾斯特設計電梯、以及為建築系所的教學區。藝術塔與位於正對面的西銀行圖書館 (Western Bank Library) 設有天橋連結，便於教師與學生往返兩座建築大樓，圖書館內建有一間展示藝廊，收藏兩萬五千冊稀有書籍、以及一百五十件獨有藏。
雪菲爾大學斥資二億萬英鎊建設新教學大樓、擴建圖書館、翻新學生會、以及增加新穎的學習設備；同時啟用新圖書資訊空間 - 資訊學習圖書館 (Information Commons)，內設近一千五百間個人學習區、藏書約一萬冊、五百台電腦設備，同時設置資訊查詢中心、咖啡廳，為一座全天開放的學習中心。
雪菲爾大學的學生會譽為英國最佳學生會之一，提供近一百五十種學生社團、三十種運動課程、以及負責課業諮詢、法律諮詢、房屋租賃諮詢等各種諮詢服務。學生會大樓中設有電影院、超市、銀行、生活商店等設施，為一處利於處理學生生活的場所。
住宿相關
雪菲爾大學擁有市內最具規模的學生宿舍區，創造充滿活力的學生居住環境。大學保障國際學生第一年的入住資格，並提供多方面的住宿諮詢服務；學生可申請入住學生宿舍，或是參考當地校外住宿選擇，學校會協助學生尋找合適的住宿環境。
學校宿舍提供不同的房型選擇，包含: 雅房 (共用衛浴、共用廚房)、套房 (個人衛浴、共用廚房)、獨立套房 (個人衛浴、個人廚房)、以及適合情侶與攜帶家眷的學生選擇的公寓式房型。
大學的學生宿舍分為兩區域: Ranmoor/Endcliffe Residences與City Residences。前者提供兼具優美與安全的生活環境；後者位於可享有便捷都市生活的市中心。
• Ranmoor/Endcliffe Residences: 位於綠樹成蔭的優美景區，兼具友善與安全的居住環境，步行約15至20分種即可至校區與市中心，為一處充滿活力的學生宿舍區，可容納約四千五百名學生。宿舍內設有: 交誼中心、生活商店、健身中心、學生酒吧、自助洗衣服務等設施。
• City Residences: 位於便捷的市中心，鄰近各教學區、購物區、餐廳、綠地公園、醫院、藝文特區。宿舍內設有: 交誼中心、影音廳、遊戲室、服務中心等設施。
課程介紹
雪菲爾大學設置六大學院、數十所部門，提供最先進的教學設備、優質的研究成果，其中近三十個學系的研究成果獲得 “優異” 的評價。學校擁有五座博士教育的工程與物理科學研究中心 (EPSRC)，其相關學系獲得極高的聲譽，學系領域包含: 能源研究、冶金學、核能開發、水利工程。
